“Behind every successful person, there is one elementary truth. Somewhere, some way, someone cared about their growth and development.”                                                                    - Author and career consultant Donald Miller

The primary goal of this program is to connect local entrepreneurs and business professionals in informal mentoring relationships that will help them in their personal and professional development and advancement.

What is Mentoring?

  • Mentoring occurs when one individual provides support, encouragement, and guidance to another, based on their knowledge, life, and experience.
  • Mentoring is a Win/Win situation and provides a two-way learning experience for both mentor and mentee/protégé, which can encourage deep satisfaction and numerous benefits in personal, career and leadership areas.
  • Mentoring is different from coaching.  Mentoring provides more generalized help, focusing on the development of the mentee’s business.  Coaching is more specific and intense, focusing on the individual’s personal development in a desired area.

If either person in the mentoring relationship encounters problems with the other individual, he/she will contact the Program Administrator for assistance.

If a situation arises where one of the individuals is unable to continue the relationship, he/she will promptly contact the Program Administrator.

This mentoring program is proprietary in nature, and it will not be duplicated anywhere else without the written permission of the SCE Small Business Council.
